Photography

Naturally, we encourage photographers of all experience levels to bring their cameras with them. Sitka has long been a popular destination for both underwater and terrestrial photographers.

Due to the multitude of camera brands and types, we do not stock any spare parts or batteries, so make sure you bring extras. If you're planning to take pictures underwater, a macro lens will go a long way here. The small invertebrates and crustaceans are great photo subjects. We would also advise that you bring a small wide angle lens if you have one.

For above water photography, there are whales, eagles, puffins, and landscapes galore. It wouldn't be a bad idea to bring along a telephoto lens for surface photos since much of the wildlife is protected and we are restricted from approaching too close.
